Colorado Advanced Organic Materials Company Changes Its Name to Dynamic Organic Light, Inc.

COLED Technologies Inc. has changed its name to Dynamic Organic Light, Inc. The name change is a part of the company’s marketing strategy and does not reflect a change in either the company’s management or ownership.

The decision to change the company’s name was brought about by the need to more accurately portray the company’s technology, which is the development of advanced organic electro-luminescent materials for the flat panel display industry. One of the company’s innovations is in “electrode modification,” which dramatically improves the charge injection characteristics of the indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode used in the construction of organic light emitting diode (OLED) devices.

This new approach increases the efficiency of small molecule fluorescent (SMF) OLED and light emitting polymer (LEP) based technologies by as much as 40% when compared to current methods and materials. The company is also developing an advanced printable electro-luminescent (EL) technology, which results in dramatically reduced power consumption, improved color purity and increased lifetime when compared to current OLED technologies, all at a projected lower cost of production.

Because of the low rate of adoption of current OLED technologies, this new development in EL technology is expected to be very attractive to the flat panel display industry and will likely herald a new era in flat panel display performance.

“In order to realize the full potential of OLEDs, we decided to develop an efficient and effective charge injection methodology first and we are pleased to announce that we have made significant strides in the development of an ‘easy to use’ methodology for both SMF-OLEDs and LEPs”, said Neil Gough, president and CEO of Dynamic Organic Light. “We also recognized the need to improve the power consumption, color purity and lifetime of the EL element used in the construction of OLED display devices, and we’re delighted by the progress that we our making with our new approach.”
